Conduit Fill

Check conductor occupancy or find a listed raceway size for the entered wires and cables.

From input to answer.

  1. Set the electrical region to Canada. Open All Tools → Conduit Fill.
  2. Choose Find pipe size or Check my pipe, then the conduit type.
  3. Add wire or cable groups with insulation family, construction, size and quantity. Use measured dimensions when required.
  4. Read the selected size or occupancy check, then expand details to check the entered load.

WORKED EXAMPLE

Six conductors in EMT

Enter

Choose Find pipe size, EMT and six 12 AWG RW90 600 V stranded conductors.

Read the result

The app totals 69.6 mm² of occupied area and selects metric trade size 16 (½-inch) EMT for this fill check. Seven of the same conductors move the selection to trade size 21. The screenshot shows the three-conductor starter example.

Get more from it.

  • Insulation and construction affect occupied area; AWG alone does not identify the outside diameter.
  • Fill count and current-carrying conductor count are different concepts.

Know the limits.

  • Canada-mode CEC 2024 fill calculation only. It does not check ampacity adjustment, pulling difficulty, bend limits or all installation conditions.
  • Confirm actual cable dimensions, raceway type and the edition adopted locally.

Verify the inputs, applicable local requirements and real conditions. The app is a calculation aid and can contain errors. See our terms and safety disclaimer.

Common questions.

Does a fill pass mean the wires are correctly sized?

No. Ampacity, voltage drop and installation requirements need separate checks.

Put it in your pocket.
